My background
Studies
I studied translating and interpreting in Leipzig, Lyon, Geneva and Toulouse and hold a Masters degree in "Translating and Interpreting with Multimedia" from the Institute for Translating and Interpreting of the University of Toulouse.
Professional Experience
Following my studies, I came to Paris where I was appointed as translator, proof-reader and quality control manager for German translation at Datawords, a large translation and localisation agency. Datawords works first and foremost with reputed brands in the luxury watch-making industry as well as in luxury fashion and cosmetics – this gave me the opportunity to put my skills to use for a number of discerning clients.
In addition to this work, I have also established myself as a freelance translator and have already delivered a number of language services such as localising websites or translating marketing texts, press and media releases, instruction manuals and much more from English, French and Spanish into German.
Additional Skills
- advanced I.T. knowledge: text documents, Excel, PowerPoint, translation software (SDL Trados, Studio 2009), internet usage, basic HTML knowledge and various CMS and Back Office software by translating various websites using such systems
- six-week-long distant learning Creative Writing course (in Germany)
- French-German chuchotage interpreting for the Franco-German Youth Office
- much hands-on experience as a liaison interpreter for The French Association for the Recognition of Denial of Pregnancy and the French association for student services (CROUS) among others
